I love this author. She doesn't just throw out books with spankings in them, she throws out nicely written books with plots, spankings and romance. I also fell in love with the tortured miner. I know another reader felt the spankings were too harsh, and I don't quite understand what he's talking about. To me, the spankings were just fine. Unless he meant the description of what the abusive boyfriend did to her, which is why she ran away in the first place and wound up with our hunky hero! I do wish it was longer, though. So, take note, Maren. If you go back and redo this one, please make it longer because we want more!

One of the first things I guess I would have to say is that not all spanking is erotic...and frankly a man spanking a grown woman black and blue because she "disobeyed" him?...yeah not sexy...there was no character analysis or depth. The story was a good idea, but the writing I felt left a lot to be desired. There was no depth to the characters. I read this story in an hour and I felt as if I still don't know anything about the characters except that Tom thinks that spanking a woman black and blue is a proper response for her not listening to him. Again I say that not all spanking is sexy...this is not...I don't understand who Nora was, or if she wanted to leave her boyfriend or just wanted to have him come after her. I don't understand is Tom a successful miner or does he struggle. Who is Nora's baby's father? I don't care who, but there is no real closure. I was very disappointed and frankly peeved that I spent money on this book. I didn't even realize that this was set in Canada until the very end. What happened to the man Nora killed? And excuse me how random was that? Nothing in this story was developed. I am sad to say this book for me was a complete bust.

Purchased on a whim and was rewarded with well written little romance.

I totally fell in love with this Tortured Hermit Miner of a mountain man!! The battered, scared heroine was a perfect fit for our hero. The right blend to draw his protective trait as well as a man that has not had sex in YEARS!!!!OMG! Now throw in a cabin sans-facilities- closed roads to civilization-angry miner neighbors( the seclusion alone adds to the sexual tension!

You will laugh and cry several times over. I only gave it the 4 stars because I wanted to spend more time with these two characters--there were many places to get to know them and flesh out some more story........

This is a shelf keeper.
