Adventure Guide to Canada's Atlantic Provinces
|
From Library Journal
The Rogerses (New Hampshire: Off the Beaten Path, Globe Pequot, 1998) have written a bulky guide to active vacations in New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland. Outdoor activities like dogsledding, snowshoeing, kayaking, and horseback riding are featured, and less active options such as seal and whale watching, museum visits, and walking tours are also included. There is advice about places to stay and eat. Suggestions for further reading are interspersed throughout the book. Paradoxically, though the authors cover a lot of ground, only thumbnail sketches are provided. All entries mention addresses and phone/FAX numbers, but opening hours are not always provided. Nevertheless, this is a good book to consult before departure. Recommended for large public libraries.ARavi Shenoy, Hinsdale P.L., Naperville, Copyright 1999 Reed Business Information, Inc.

THE Guide to Canada's Atlantic Provinces
Barbara and Stillman Rogers have created a guide to Atlantic Canada that is comprehensive and critical, yet never diminishes the charm of this too little explored area of Canada. This "adventure" guide is for both the novice and experienced traveller. Very practical -- including tips on how not to get stuck on a muddy road.If the Rogers haven't found every nook and cranny in Atlantic Canada, then there isn't one worth seeing. I wouldn't leave home for Atlantic Guide without this book tucked into my backpack.
